This is the final installation for the little test-tube plants to show the concept of nature and artificial surrounding. I want people to actually feel how is it like when Mother Nature is being confined in a man-made environment. Yet, when people walk inside it, they might somehow in a way feel confused because people never noticed what and how the buildings are growing and the plants are being forced to submit to what was actually their home and now they have to live where they are being forced to or even designated to.

Design Concepts and Finalisation

Development Concepts
One of the possibilities to showcase this installation was by the method of allowing the plants to be grown in rubber hoses and be fixed to the ground. However, after much contemplation, this idea was scraped because i realised it would take much more to allow people to actually look into these rubber hose and start to have a sense of the message that i want to deliver to others.
I decided to create this installation in the form a hanging installation so as to allow to look carefully into these little plants growing within the rubber hose to see how nature grows within a man-made environment. Yet, allowing people to see how a man-made environment allows the growth of nature.
The co-existence of both Mother Nature and an artificial environment, is differentiated by a thin line. It is to one's opinion on what they deem as natural and what is man-made.

Development Processes
Reverse Reality
There is always a vague line between the natural environment and versus the man-made environment in this current date and time. In the context of Rio, the Copacabana Beach, was surrounded by various amounts of man-made buildings. Not to mention, i wouldn't even know if the beautiful beach was just natural, or was there even human intervention in it?
The installation that i designed, is to actually show this scene where the man-made environment is trying too hard to be something that belongs to the natural environment. Yet, the natural environment seems to have a problem blending in to the every growing man-made environment.
How do allow everyone else who walks by the same space i stepped in feel the same way and acknowledge this ambiguity?

Parallel Reality

Serenity lingers in its surroundings, yet the building rubs off on me a sense of solemnity while standing within it. A surge of dominance and supremacy triumphs over me. |

| The first step into the fort brings upon a sense of sorrow and tranquility. Every corner of the site intrigues me and situates me into the years of struggles to gain independence. |

| The contemporary characteristic is very much reflected on the building. It has a open facade, exposing much of the interior to the outside world nevertheless keeping enough privacy for comfort. |

| Situated in the heart of the road junction is a dilapidated building, however there lies an amiable semblance within itself, giving the best welcome anyone can get. |
